How heat pumps work in Southwest Ohio winters, when dual fuel makes sense, and how to handle dry winter air, summer humidity and indoor air quality in homes.
How often should my furnace and air conditioner be serviced?
Once a year for each is the usual guidance: the furnace in fall before heating season and the air conditioner in spring before it gets hot. A tune-up and safety check on the furnace catches small problems early. See our maintenance services.
Is it better to repair or replace an old furnace or AC unit?
It depends on the repair cost, the age of the system and how often it has broken down. We do not push a new system when the old one works fine. We will look at it, tell you how much life it has left and let you decide.
Can you repair my furnace in one day?
Most furnace problems we see are repaired in one day. Our vans carry common parts such as blowers, switches, control boards and igniters, though a specific part can sometimes need to be ordered. See furnace repair.
Is a heat pump a good fit for a home in this climate?
Heat pumps both heat and cool, and many homes in southwest Ohio can use them. Whether one suits your house depends on its insulation, ductwork and your current system. We can look at your home and talk through it. See heat pumps.
Why is my AC running but not cooling the house?
Common causes include a dirty air filter, a dirty coil, low refrigerant or a failing part. Replacing a clogged filter is a safe first check. If air is still warm, we can diagnose it. See A/C repair.
What can help with dust, allergies or humidity in my home?
Better air filters, air purifiers, UV lights, humidifiers and dehumidifiers each address different problems. Clean ductwork also matters. We install all of these. See indoor air quality.
